Maslul is a map-based trip planning app for hiking and off-road navigation in Israel. This policy explains exactly what data the app accesses and how it is handled.
The short version: Maslul stores everything on your device. No data is uploaded to any server operated by us. No accounts, no cloud sync, no tracking.
When you are actively using Maslul, the app reads your device's GPS position to display your location on the map and assist with navigation.
When you start a trip recording, Maslul continues to read your GPS position while the app is in the background so that your track is recorded accurately. Background location access stops when you end the trip or close the app.
Your location is never transmitted to us or to any third party. It is used only on-device for display and trip recording.
Trips, routes, and waypoints you save are stored locally on your device's storage. This data does not leave your device unless you explicitly choose to export or share a file.
If you use Maslul's optional Meshtastic integration, the app communicates with a paired Meshtastic device over a local LoRa mesh radio network. Peer location data received over the mesh:
To display the map, Maslul fetches tiles and data from the following third-party services. When your device requests map tiles, the service may receive your approximate location (derived from which tiles are requested) and your device's IP address, subject to their own privacy policies.
Topographic and trail map tiles served by the open-source Israel Hiking Map project at israelhiking.osm.org.il, based on OpenStreetMap data.
Points of interest (POI) database for hiking and outdoor activities in Israel. See amudanan.co.il for their terms.
Nature reserve and national park boundary layers, fetched from the Israel Nature and Parks Authority's mapping service.
We do not control these services and recommend reviewing their privacy policies if you have concerns.
Maslul does not require or offer user accounts. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other identifying information.
Maslul is not directed at children under the age of 16 and we do not knowingly collect any personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us and we will take steps to address it.
If we update this policy, we will post the new version at this URL and update the "Last updated" date above. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
